How Much Are Fukuoka Sumo Tournament Tickets?

Face value by seat class, the English booking site's fee, and what a guided tour with a seat costs and includes. Checked October 2026.

Updated October 2026

Face value at the Fukuoka Kokusai Center runs from ¥2,000 for a weekday chair seat to ¥20,000 for a ringside cushion, tax included, checked against the official price list in October 2026. A guided tour that includes a seat costs more than that in dollars, because what you’re buying is the seat itself, already secured, plus a guide, not only the paper ticket.

A box seats four people on floor cushions, shoes off, and comes as four tickets; chair seats rise behind the boxes.

The tour pinned on this page is a middle option. gotcha Corporation’s visit is $127 on the booking platform when we checked, rated 4.0 from 3 reviews: an English-speaking guide, a walk around the venue and its souvenir shops, then a reserved seat for a 4.5-hour visit. Which seat class that buys depends on the option you choose at booking, and the listing doesn’t say which — ask the operator to confirm it before you pay. Free cancellation runs up to 24 hours out.

What each seat costs

Infographic comparing Fukuoka sumo seat prices: official chair seats 2,000 to 6,000 yen, boxes for four 32,000 to 56,000 yen and ringside 20,000 yen, against guided tours with a seat from $127 and $634
Face values are the official 2026 prices; the general sale is sold out and the venue sells nothing this year. The tours include a seat and a guide. Prices checked in October 2026 and subject to change.

A box is sold whole, for four people on floor cushions with their shoes off, and it’s issued as four separate tickets, one per person, not one for the group. Chair seats are sold one at a time and the location within the seating block can’t be chosen. Ringside sits right next to the ring, is sold only on the Japanese-language site, and bans outdoor shoes, food and photography without the organiser’s permission; it’s restricted to ages 16 and up.

Two smaller options exist for a pair rather than a full box. A two-person version of Box C, called raku-raku, costs ¥19,000 for both seats together, and a pair of chairs at a shared table costs the same ¥19,000, though no food comes with it. Everyone aged four and over needs their own ticket at full price; none of the classes above carries a child rate. One piece of good news for anyone budgeting ahead: a price rise due in Tokyo and Osaka from January 2027 specifically leaves Fukuoka’s numbers alone, so none of the figures here are about to move.

Buying through the English-language interface, Ticket Oosumo English, adds a flat ¥2,000 service fee to whichever face value you pick, by credit card only, and the ticket itself prints at a 7-Eleven once you’re in Japan. The Japanese-language site carries no such fee, but it assumes you can read and navigate it unaided.

What the tours add

Two tours on this site hand you a ticket without any of that. gotcha Corporation’s tour, pinned above, is $127. One reviewer rated it two stars and felt the price was out of proportion to the seat’s face value; two others rated it five. Yummy Guide inc.’s tour is $634: a chair seat plus a guide who briefs you beforehand and helps you through the gate, though not past it. It has no reviews yet. Neither listing states how its ticket was sourced, so if the date or seat class matters to you, ask the operator before paying.

The platform shows each visitor a price in their own currency, so the dollar figures above move with the exchange rate; the yen face values don’t. Treat the tour prices as payment for what they actually buy — a seat already secured in a sold-out tournament, English-language help and the booking finished before you leave home — rather than as a simple markup on the ¥ ticket.
